Do none-PC gamers REALIZE how much more POWER a PC gamer has? - Page 5

How I see it, for the games I play:

Console = Cheaper, lower resolution\\quality, less content (mod\\DLC)
PC = More expensive, higher resolution\\quality, more content (mod\\DLC)

I play for quality and content, so it is simple for me. Also, I'm invested in my PC and have an old CRT television that I barely use. The whole Console/PC debate is stupid because it is almost entirely opinionated.

I was primarily a console gamer until about a year or two ago. Even though I was always tech savvy, I never knew how good PC gaming was until I experienced it firsthand.

A friend of mine was playing Fallout 3 on his X360 on his 42in HDTV. I thought it looked really good already. Then I went to his roommate, who was also playing Fallout 3 on his C2Q and 4870 XFire. The difference was stunning. It was like the difference between the N64 and PS3 to me. From that day on, I was a firm believer in console gaming.

I can do more with my PC and it takes less steps than a console, my monitors turn on automatically.

I can also play old games without having to own another PC unlike consoles which you have to own the old console to play old games...

The only benefit a console has is game exclusives but that's nullified by the fact that PCs also have game exclusives.
Right, but you missed my last point.. easier for the masses...

3.) Windows loading... oh i got some updates to install...
4.) install and reboot
5.) New graphics drivers? Gotta have those...
6.) Install, reboot....

8.) fix driver issue

Don't get me wrong, PCs are vastly superior, and I love PC gaming... but their is just no denying that consoles are easier and more convenient

Current gen consoles crash way more times than my PC ever has. When I used to play on my PS3 it crashed like 6 times in 2 hours when playing Fallout 3. Most of those points are universal, you forget that PS3 also needs to install off disc before playing for most games (as does the 360 unless you want a nice engraving in your disc), which takes forever and it gets system updates too. Oh and I'd take a BSOD any day over another bloody RROD/YLOD. PCs you have a chance of fixing/tweaking, with consoles your chances of solving the problems are very slim and if you do, chances are that in the process, you've probably voided your warranty.

Is that what you go through every time you play? Cuz I'm pretty sure I don't have to update, install, and fix crap every time I sit down to game.

The reason consoles are more main-stream has a lot to do with the price factor, but there are other things that come into play. Consoles are much more simple to handle for most people, as they lack what we would regard as basic computer literacy, which I know for a fact from fixing some of my friends computers. Another reason is that most people play consoles, and if all of your friends are playing on them, then you are forced to have one as well (which is my case). The fact that a lot of console games are exclusive also help keep it mainstream.

The social factor also comes into play. I can't remember last computer game that I played in my TV room with all of my friends, it's something I had the chance of doing with a PC (granted you could set it up by hooking it to the TV,and using any compatible controllers like the Xbox 360s, but most computer games I play like mmorpgs and rts games are not something I would play on a controller). Lan parties are awesome, I have set up a few in the past, but they are very different since we all play on individual monitors, we might as well be in another continent. The PC is a more individualistic platform in the physical sense, everything about it reflects that. The location in which most of us have it set up ( usually in our bedrooms or even if it's in a living room it's on a table with not much space to have other people around). How many of us have multiple mice and keyboards for our friends to play along? ,that would be hard to implement. What the computer excels in is giving us a superior experience in the technical aspect, better graphics, better controls (at least more precise controls ), and better customization, hardware and software wise with all the mods and maps created by other players.

I myself prefer computer games over consoles, since I am a big fan of RTS and MMORPG games. First game I ever played on pc was Warcraft back in 1994. My favorite games are mostly PC games, Warcraft 1-3, Ultima Online,Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun,Quake,Quake TF,Dark Age of Camelot,CS,Rome Total war,Diablo 1-2,Battlefield 2 and Vietnam,Company of Heroes. But I also have great memories of playing consoles with some of my best friends during my childhood. Playing Mario in the living room, Decapitating them in Mortal Kombat, racing against them in Top Gear,Rock and Roll racing, Mario kart. Laying proximity mines in Golden Eye and then luring the unsuspected fools to my traps . Sharing my Zelda OOT experiences during lunch at school. There are too many memories to share here. In my opinion there is no clear winner, both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses, and they both were a big part of me while growing up from 1988 until now.

PC games you get more maps then on XBOX and PS3. L4D2 and COD WAW are 2 that I have for both. Plus (Free) is allways a win.
