Alright, I just finished a chat with an online rep and the T420 is in fact still made out of magnesium.

I know as a fact my old T410 was magnesium. And it's also my understanding that the W series and X220 are as well.
Well looks like i learned something new. I thought the last generation of thinkpads to use the magnesium shell and chassis was the older T series that used the core 2 duo processors.

Thinkpads are so tough they actually had to run one over with a 13 ton truck to test it because a car wasn't heavy enough to do any damage.

I got mine, a used T500, and it's the the best PC I've had by far. I then got an obsolete T30 for my kids to play on from ebay. I might also get S10 to surf with, in the long run it will be for my babies. I will buy another top of the line model, hopefully. I love the styling of these T500's.

TBH since the transfer from IBM to Lenovo, I haven't been as thrilled with the quality of Thinkpads. From talking to friends though, I seem to be in the minority with this.
