2600k OC Help

Thread Starter
I just got my first, yes first Intel since I was born... I am still an AMD fanboy... but anyway, I also got an msi p67-gd45, I need help, I tried to overclock it and it was an utter failure. I don't understand my new gui bios and I never had much trouble with AMD, but this perplexes me, also I have ddr3 1600, and its at 1333, I got it to say it would raise it to 1600, and my CPU to 4.0 Ghz. I have a V8 cooler so I know its not over-heating. Anyway, I just want to run it at 4.0-4.5 Ghz and have my ram at 1600, I looked on the forums and read the OC'ing guide, but it was for a gigabyte motherboard. So I am at a loss. Please help.
Thanks in advance.

With a cpu voltage of around 1.35v and multiplier of around 40-45ghz this will be a good start try this setting, everything else on auto. It is important to make sure your ram is set manually at the correct rated voltage and timmings

If this fails just raise your multiplier in single steps untill it will no longer load into windows and then bump the vcore voltage bit by bit untill it wil and keep going to you hit a wall or temps are too high.

Are you measuring temp with real temp? if not i would download it.

@ 49c - 4.8ghz that temp seems very low to me

Are you stressing the cpu with prime 95 ?? I highly recommend you download that aswell to test your system stability
