WOW thank you for such a great reply! I built my computer today and after a little difficulty i think i wired it all up correctly. I'm just ganna wait for a friend to check my wiring cos i heard if the psu isn't hooked up right it could blow my system, im pretty sure its right but i'll let him double check anyway. I'll let you guys know how my overclock goes. Thanks again for all the help guys!

You heard wrong, you can only mess up USB with Firewire as they use the same connector iirc, everything else has a unique connection so you cant make a mistake. If something is left unplugged, part of the sytem wont work.

So turn that PC on and see how it goes. You cant blow anything. Just make sure your USBs are plugged in USB connector not the Firewire one, use the manual to figure that out.

Heyyy got it all up and running, overclocked this bad boy to 3.0Ghz without a problem and i've done a few stress tests on Prime95 for 30min at a time and havn't had any problems. You guys think i should keep it overclocked? is it safe?

Run it for a few hours, ( I only do it for 3 hours or so) or Intel Burn Test set to like 20 runs.

lol.

Seriously though, Prime95 (Blend) for 6-12 hours for stability, LinX for a few runs to get max heat, and anything more is optional. Some swear by 3 hours of Prime and claim more is damaging, others claim it's not stable till 24 hours.
Pick your side.

Blend, but watch your temps really close the death of every good chip involves to much heat for to long, or a ton to much voltage.

Who gives a rats a** if it stable. They said you couldn't make it to 3.2 so just crank up some voltages and bring that FSB up there. Now that is if you just want to say you made it.

Now that being said it should be pretty easy. That chip has a decently high mutli and only requires about 50 mhz on the FSB to make it to 3.2. find a decent board and you will get it with no problem

If he is still using a stock cooler, then he will need to keep a close eye on his temps while stressing. It might not survive 5 runs of IBT on stock cooling, eh Master Chief?

I wouldn't stress it at all until you get your self something to cool with. Shoot, bro, you can get a decent air cooler for less than $40. But then, I wouldn't have started over clocking it on stock cooling either...
