R6950 TFIII don't have Dual Bios Switch. It only has fan-speed switch. Wich includes performance mode or idle.

"Like on the AMD HD 69xx reference designs, a BIOS switch is present which lets you select between the original BIOS and a backup BIOS in case something goes wrong with a BIOS flash. Combined with the HD 6950 to HD 6970 modding potential this makes an unbeatable combo because it's almost impossible that you screw up enough to end up with a $300 paperweight."

Full Review: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/M...ozr_III/4.html

Here's the switch

You are both right it is indeed a bios switch see attached pics, but the bios that are on there one is performance fan control and the other is a silent mode. I flashed mine yesterday with this http://www.ocdrift.com/2011/04/msi-r...locking-guide/ and it worked well. The one comment I will make is the shaders don't show up in GPU-Z as unlocked but if you run a bench before and after that flash you will see the increase in performance my guess in a newer version of GPU-Z will fix this problem. Make sure you run the bench at the same clock speeds I left mine at stock for the sake of being easy.

A couple other notes you need to make a bootable usb drive which isn't that hard there are all kinds of tools that will do it for you I used HP's handy tool. Also when you use the command ATIFLASH -p -f 0 r6950pex.bin be sure to type exactly like I just did (pay attention to the spaces).

It is safer to do it with a bootable usb also from what I have read it is a bit more successful the process is really not that hard but in the same breath if you aren't comfortable with the process then I would take some time and read about how to make a bootable usb and the whole process.

Additionally shut the computer off before flipping the switch.

I used HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool just google it and you will find it pretty much all you have to do is plug in your USB stick and select the drive and let the program do its magic once that is done add the ATI389 folder and follow the instructions on the PowerPoint

Oh and don't forget the rep button it will be greatly appreciated

It's perfectly safe to flash from Windows.

Use ATi WinFlash

Link: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/261/

To unlock the shaders back up your bios using GPU-Z (click the little black chip with the green arrow coming off it), then use that bios to flash your card.

Full instructions: http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/159

N.B Just don't flash your card with a 6970 BIOS as the guide says, use your own BIOS (the one you backed up)
