Thread Starter
I never use my sig rig since i purchased a i7 laptop so i figured im going to see how far i can push my q8200 and still have it useable. I curently have it at 3.15ghz i have the vcore set to 1.35, cpu fsb set to 1.35, ,my ram is g.skill pi series 12800 and set to linked@1800, i set the timings to optimal for now.
IBT is running rigt now is been going a little bit and my temps are 55-60c.
This is the farthest ive oc'd anything so if anyone has any ideas/tips id like to hear them.
thanks

You're overclocking, it's just a matter of balls lol. Either you can stay on the safe side or on the less safe side. I'm running my 45n, E8400 at 1.42v at 4.3ghz. If it gives up, I guess it's time to get a new rig lol

I think that you should over clock it until heat is a problem. I think that heating will be an issue long before voltage is a problems. So i would say get a better cooler for it(like a hyper 212) and keep ocing until temps are between 60-75*C,

Yeah im gone keep trying for 3.5 i have the corsair a70 on it now . I never use this rig at all, it only gets turned on when i feel like messing with it my i7 seems so much faster so if i break something ocing, it wont be a huge loss but id like to have a functional oc so i can use it if needed. And reason i dont see a diference in performance between stock. And where im at now?

You'd see the performance on benchmarks, playing games, and other programs that will utilize your cpu/ram
