I got my ram from newegg one of the sticks is bent a little ??

Thread Starter
I got my new pc from newegg yesterday and have not put it together yet. What I ordered is whats in my system specs. Iwas looking at my parts last night and some of the packages looked like they been thrown around a bit. My ram when you put one stick on top of the other theres a little space between them. One of the sticks look concave a little. Do you think this can cause a problem ? Do you think this is due because roughness of the package or the manufacturing process ? Even my cpu box has a corner that is not a corner anymore.

What would you ? woyld this bother you ? or should I not worry about it ? I'm not really worried about the cpu but more so about the one ram stick. Is it possible a ram could underprform due to damage like this ?

Unless the RAM stick is seriously bent, I wouldn't worry.

It will straighten up when you put it in the slot.

If it worries you, send it back.

You don't have to but it won't hurt and you'll know your RAM is solid.

Chances are that you may have bent the heat spreader a bit when pulling the RAM out of the blister pack. Manufacturers like to make sure that they will not tumble around the packaging when shipped so they wedge the sticks in there.

As long as the contacts on the PCB fit into the slot with little to no difficulty you should be fine. If the stick is warp/bent enough to where you need two hands to bend it straight I would RMA the stick as there is no guarantee that the soldering will hold in the long term.

It should be fine. If you have to really put a lot of pressure to get it in the ram slot, I would stop and send it back to avoid breaking a memory slot on your motherboard. Im a little disappointed in how new egg shipped my memory. It was shipped in a padded envelope to where the padding was EXTREMELY then. Cut backs i guess......
