Just bought a new M8

Hey all,

Just bought a new M8 case - can't wait for it to arrive! While I wait, I'm wondering where you guys are mounting your reservoirs?

That's the only thing I'm seeing might be an issue without one of the vertical braces and mounting 'pads' - which coincidentally I didn't order. I'm hoping there's enough room I can drill a couple holes and mount this EK multioption 250 in there between the back of the CD rom, and the motherboard tray/cable run holes and beneath/above a triple rad + fans.

Looked through the build threads and not seeing much!

Buy some 3M dual lock - that will allow you to mount a reservoir anywhere you have a flat surface without drilling - this way if you don't like the location it is easy to move

Unfortunately, there's limited options for me to mount my res (aquatube). It's heavy WITHOUT water in it. And I don't want to mount it in a front bay, SO, I'm having to custom make a mount. My dremel has been quite the work out the last few weeks.

I wonder if the 3M dual lock will be strong enough to hold the 250ml sized EK filled and attached with 1/2" ID 45deg angle compression fittings... any experience in that regard?

It's more about finding a place to mount it than what to mount it with though really. I'll have a much better idea once I have the case in hand with all the parts for fitting of course. I've got a couple sets of the bay brackets cut in half for the top bays to hold an Aquaero 5, and below that a CD drive so I'm hoping there's enough clearance for the 120.3 rad in the top plus some GT's without interfering.

Yes dual lock will hold it up - I am using it myself and the stuff is strong. Also I have seen a few other builds for the M8 and M10 and swear I remember seeing someone else using it - who it was I cannot remember though! I want to say it was Xyelz in his X1 build log. *edit* here we go http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...l#post12410006

I also used it in my build log as well with good results

That Dual Lock stuff is pretty good and if you can't find it use the Guerilla Glue (Industrial Version) for Metal on Metal bonding. You can also do something called a cold weld which combines to chemicals to fuse together solidly.

Unfortunately, either way is fairly permanent. Its not coming off without pulling something with it, and that would make me a bit scared (i.e. drill holes and bolt it on.)

Do be careful of where you mount the res though, some of Aluminium walls won't support that level of stresses.

CONGRATS ON THE BUY! I HOPE YOU LOVE IT!

I was lame and went with this nifty dual resevoir bay / pump housing, so everything is together. You can check it out in my build log.

Nice Thanks for the reply guys - options! Gotta love 'em.

On a side note... my case has been shipped as of the 17th, and should be here soon. Can't wait! Have a whole bunch of new water cooling gear shipped out at the same time. Should be a fun weekend when I get started on it.

I also am using dual lock Velcro material. Holds up my 175ml Res with my pump attatched. Its great stuff.
