Just built my computer and it doesn't work can someone help? - Page 4

I think it must be the ram cpu or proc, defo not the gpu. With no os installed and a faulty gpu it would boot and stick in bios, and ask you where the os is or to insert disk. I had a similar problem, solution: i changed mobo, but it screw holes were from a different scheme so i had to replace the pins that hold the screws . I forgot one and put the new mobo in. That pin was touching the mobo--> no boot.

You need to breadboard it....

i'd have it all out of the case so i could be sure it wasnt shorting on something.
be sure to have the speaker plugged in so you can verify any possible errors with the beep codes.

ok try with just one stick of ram if it doesn't work then swap through them and just make sure it's none of them, ensure your GPU is seated properly and that the cable between gpu and monitor is working either by swaping it or trying on another computer.

make sure the gpu is pushed all the way into the pcie, the fan will power on even when it isnt plugged all the way in.

I had an exactly similar problem about a month ago when I revived an older rig for shop duty. I knew for a fact that the rig was 100% okay before I took it apart, modified the case, and reinstalled the parts. Then nothing.

I took everything apart and tested it on the bench (table whatever you have) and it worked fine. Reinstalled and it worked fine. So even though I never actually figured out what I had done wrong I "fixed" it.

I strongly recommend you take everything apart, lay it out on a table and connect it up and test it. I bet it will work then. If not at least you will be ready for further processes of elimination to find the fault.

Anyways... after I built my computer. All the lights and fans turned on but nothing gets displayed on my monitor. After a short 30 seconds, the computer automatically turns off (I guess because there's no monitor or OS or anything installed yet.. (someone answer why this happens for me please)). I thought it was the GFX perhaps but I noticed that the fan was running on the GFX too when I turned everything on.. so there is power going to it. Can someone help me? Is it the GFX and should I just get a new one to test it out? And does Sapphire have a 1 year warranty on their parts? THANKS!
did you plug in teh power for the CPU?
Ive been doing this for years and i still forget that little step.

why dont people who dont know what they are doing just ask the shop to make it up for them, they try and save say £30 and it ends up costing £10000s ???

do u guys agree or do u think its something else?
This always happens to me when I install stock Intel fans. The 4th one never goes in the hole like it's supposed to. You have to basically wiggle it around until it finds the hole and then press the tab to lock it in.

Anyway, I don't think this is your problem because the very first time I installed an Intel fan, I had it running with the 4th pin being out of the hole and it ran fine for a while until I switched to a case with a cutout for an aftermarket fan and saw that the pin wasn't protruding from the hole. But on the other hand, it might be the reason why it's not working.

same as CD!
Last week an old 478 board was giving me grief from the get go,so i took everything out and of course it fired up right away!

I have a front panel switch/led + speaker block from some old computer i took apart for spares years ago, just for this purpose
It saves so much grief on boards where the pinouts aren't marked.

Then it is just down to identifying the beeps,if any.

If it was the 4 pin cpu fan that was not seated right ,then you would probably need clear cmos and try a 3pin fan in a different header-incase you blown the cpu fan header.

Though most mobo's have a beep code for "no cpu" i have known a couple that just spun up and done nothing without the right bios for the cpu or with a dead processor.
