Really old CoolerMaster liquid cooling

Thread Starter
Backstory: I was going out to get the V6GT for my CPU when the guy I was buying it from pointed out an old CoolerMaster liquid cooling kit (probably because I had initially wanted an H70, but no stock). I was confused because I had never heard of CoolerMaster ever having one. The guy had apparently kept a few in stock many years back in a warehouse and got buried under mountains of stuff. After cleaning it recently he dug them up, and offered it to me for 120RMB (roughly 18 dollars).

Looking on the back it's listed for "Prescott, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 X2". A quick search on CoolerMaster's legacy products show they do have liquid cooling solutions but none of them have a pump like this one does. When I have some time (probably some time in June), I'll do some testing to see how it holds up. There's tons of air inside the loop but the guy claims that as the pump runs, all air automatically stays in the pump area somehow (we will see). At least it didn't cost nearly as much as an H70.

Here are some pics taken with my not-so-stellar Sony point-and-shoot. (gotta get me a DSLR some day)

Is that an Aluminum rad? Make sure when you fill it you put in an anti-corrosive additive. Aluminum and Copper in a water loop will not play well... Check the block for corrosion too.

Don't know if that's even possible; I think this was designed to be a kit like the H50 or an H70, not designed to be refilled. In any case, this was a bargain at 18 bucks so this is more or less something to fool around with.

I'm fairly sure it is an aluminum rad but no way to really check cause the kit didn't come with any really detailed manuals. Either that or my chinese isn't up to scratch. I don't think it'd be possible or it was designed for the user to add anything anyway, like I said above.

What is that on the pump block with the worm clamp around it? Looks like a fill port to me...

This is awesome, I would love to know how it performs. Interesting rad too, looks like a multiple pass design.

Ah yes, that is a fill port. So you can refill it. Now to find out what to put in it. I hear distilled water works fine? And like whiteslashasian said, I'll probably have to put some anti-corrosive in it.

I see no reason why it shouldn't work, unless all those years in a warehouse somehow degraded the components. Nothing seems damaged except a couple bent fins on the radiator, but that doesn't seem like anything of consequence.
