Buzzing sound from 6950?

Hey lads,

Possibly a stupid question but ..
Rebuilt system there the other day, and i noticed there a while ago whilst stress testing my 6950 that i hear a faint buzzing sound coming from my machine when its under 100% load, im assuming its coming from the gpu, or the PSU. Im using GPUTool to test for artifacts, no artifacts, max temp is ~80c with fan on 50% temps could be better but with the stupid setup of the pcie slots on this board i can't do much about it atm.

Just wanted to know if this is err normal i suppose, first time in a good while i've updated gpu so i can't really tell, last one was a 4870.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated, as its got me a bit worried, already had to RMA the HDD i ordered as it was faulty. Thanks alot.

It's "normal" and I put that within quotes just because while it happens, it shouldn't.
It isn't damaging, but... it isn't how the card should be.

Options?
1. Live with it and not mind.
2. RMA the card for a replacement and hope for a quieter one.

History for me:
8600GT - Quiet
4830 - Quiet
4870 - Quiet
4870x2 - Buzzed, RMA'ed for a quieter one
GTX470 - Quiet
GTX 580 - Quiet

Literally only got one buzzer.. but Sapphire was super helpful RMA-ing it

Not so ninja edit: Just if you're curious, it's a coil / capacitor that buzzes / whines, but again, it isn't a precursor to failure ^^

Is it the sound of the capacitors squealing at 100% load?

It's perfectly normal. Capacitors "whine" when stressed with high current.

Thanks for the replies fellas, much appreciated, +1

Im not 100% on if its coming from the GPU or the PSU tbh, its very hard to tell which, ifs faint, but i can hear it of course as i noticed. Atm its on 900 core, and 1400 memory, im getting no artifacts or anything, and iv'e kept it at stock volts (just under 1.1) maybe i should lower it a bit?

I dont mind it at all really so far as the noise is concerned, but what i do mind if its "not working as intended" as i did pay 230 euro for it like lol. Thanks again for the replies, just want to establish if its dodgy or not.

There is a great post here by a member. That is just coil or inductor whine (not capacitors). I swore that my cards never squealed until I started folding. They now squeal like a pig in pain.

I know exactly what you mean. My 5850 has the same buzzing sound but I just ignored it.

Thanks lads, suppose i'll just egnore it then? Im not gonna bother RMA as long its not going to shorten the cards life or anything like that, i really don't mind if its just a noise, as i won't hear it playing anything anyway with speakers on. Thanks again, +1

Typically it's the psu, then gpu, but rarely it can be the mb.
