Bottle Neck? - Page 2

How much of an improvement would you see going to Sandy Bridge? Well that depends on what kind of performance you're getting right now. If you're already sitting on more than 60 FPS in your favorite games, you're not going to see a difference when upgrading to Sandy Bridge. 30-60 FPS? More than likely, you'll see a difference. Less than 30? Definitely.

So it just so happens that when I run 3dmark11 my gpu usage is at 99%, so I guess no bottleneck! Same when I run crysis or BFBC2. 120+ FPS on BFBC2 at max @ 4800x900! These crush!

You are soooooo in for it now.

How dare you suggest that you are not experiencing a bottleneck when using a lowly AMD processor? With 6970's in crossfire no less!!!

Boy, I outta' take you out back to the woodshed and whip you.

/Sarcasm.

Seriously, that's good to hear man. There're so many trolls around here running around claiming bottlenecks for everything, that it's gotten way past redundant.

That is a nice setup you have there.

So if a gpu is at 99% usage in a game you are not being bottlnecked by processor?

Damn_Smooth FOR THE WIN!!!!!!! Woot. Ya man, I'm pretty stoked. I didn't really know how to check for a bottleneck till yesterday. I was planning on grabbing a 2500k, but if I don't have a bottleneck I might as well wait for Bulldozer and stay on the AMD flagship! +rep

i would sau just to be sure play games and then check your usage cause when i use 3dmark it shows 95%+ usage but in games i get anywhere from 60% up to 90% just food for thought

lol @ all these bottleneck threads.

How about check your CPU usage in game? If not sitting at 100% on all cores being utilized then you are not being bottlenecked by the CPU. If your cores are maxed and your GPUs aren't then you may be bottlenecked. Pretty simple huh? Just looking at your GPUs will do nothing because you have only seen half the equation.

You will more than likely be bottlenecked by the game that is single threaded or dual threaded so unless you can overclock your new CPU to 5 GHz you will still be bottlenecked by those games. Buy multi threaded games and enjoy your x3, x4 or x6 CPUs no matter what unless they are sub 3 GHz.

You are not bottlenecked by an x4 running 4+ GHz. Don't believe the trolls.
