My voltages: Is it safe?

Thread Starter
Hey, I have a xeon e5645 and haven't had much luck overclocking it on my sabertooth x58 board but i did manage to get it stable with an odd setup:

vcore:1.416v (CPU-Z)
qpi/dram voltage: 1.44v
cpu speed: 2.9Ghz (19x multi)
RAM: 1333 stock @ 1533Mhz
NB Freq: 3000Mhz
qpi around 6400

temps range across the cores from 30-44c idle and even out more at load with none exceeding 62c.

my question is... is this still safe?

http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1193957 here's what it benchmarks at.. seems fine to me!

Thats a LOT of voltage for that overclock - you shouldn't need above 1.325ish voltage for that overclock, somethings wrong there :-\\

2.9 should be doable on stock voltage
you actualy dont need such volts. for 3Ghz u may need 1.2 or even less depend on your
cpu. all hardware are different. but not that kind of volts for that clock.

Agreed really high voltages for 2.9ghz.

Trust me ive tried anything lower with all kinds of settings sometimes it even crashes on auto voltage with stock speed.:S But it is stable with higher voltages, like at 2.6ghz i can do 1.38v... and i tried an OC calculator on some site, not sure where.. but it said my cpu has stock voltage of 1.3v so i was thinking with these temps it should be fine..? this cpu does have about 20c higher temp tolerance than a 980x according to intel spec. but youre right it seems high.

What they said is all true. The voltage is too high for the overclock. Maybe increase your NB voltage and and decrease the cpu voltage see if that will work.

OK... so i went through it all again and still ended up with 2.9ghz being the highest stable OC and same voltages ofc.

at stock (with turbo) i need roughly 1.3v anyways... so i dont see how 1.4v would be too much if my temps idle around 40c.. i was thinking my cpu might just be a power hungry ***** but i still am worried a bit.
