sorry guys, i cant stand Nvidia, plus i get ATI products at discount, and i live in America so the pirces aren't as bad as other places (sorry) and the new Asus AMD board isnt going to get as much out of an Nvidia rather than the ATI, and im not the biggest gamer. i just want to compete with the big boys in benchmarking, but im stubborn enough im not using Nvidia.. so with that cleared, is 2 of the6970s a good option? or should i just get 1.. im decent with computers. just not a pro yet.. i went to school for them.. but it was generalized. nothing that u cant learn from a book really

1 6970 will handle the games mentioned no problem.
If you need to upgrade in the future a second will be cheaper aswell.

So if you cutting for costs I'd get 1 6970.

well this really bums me out... will the corsshair IV handle the new bulldozer? if so i may just go with that mobo and get 2 6970 cards, the saved money can be directed around. and im sure the corsshair IV is perfect for future proofing anyways.. hell my current build is fine, im jstu looking to get into some heavier playability. and i absolutely LOVE building computers. im also running a small server setup in my house for people that LVOE mine craft haha i host servers for them.

/crosses fingers for bulldozer working with the crosshair IV

FYI for the people that are helping me i am giving rep, this forum has helped me more in the past 5 minuets than any others in months.. so im staying here. thanks for having me =D

I'm boggled at the idea of them making a ASUS Crossfire motherboard by the Republic of Gamers. And make it bright blue like the Asus Xtreme boards below them....

I some how don't believe the blue motherboard image I saw in that thread.

this may be updated or changed via what AMD and Asus are thinking about actually releasing

Antec DF-85 fulltower case

Asus Crosshair V 990fx Mobo

AMD Bulldozer CPU (hoping for 8 cores)

8 gig Gskill Ripjaws DDR3

Thermaltake Black widow 850 PSU

some form of water cooling for CPU, not sure what one just yet still looking

2 ATI 5770s CF (these are from my current build and will match everything fine)

1 OCZ 150gig solid state HD

2 150g WD Veloci Raptor HDs in raid (not sure what raid kinda new to it)

this is the build, i have decided to go with, only major thing that will change my mind is if the new MoBo is a bright blue.. i may actually go with the crosshair IV... need a red one hence the build name. this should be a beast of a machine.. anythoughts or anything let me know. the second this is done i will have benchmarks and tests run and posted along with the build, i will have videos to match =D
since u already have that psu I wont ask u to change it...otherwise I would have suggested corsair ax/hx
get a better gpu,
msi hd6970 lightning,
get the waterblock for cpu from ek-waterblock,
ram- corsair dominator/vengeance

I believe both the Formula and Extreme versions of the CHIV have the 890FX chipset. I heard that with a BIOS update or fix, they should be able to support the bulldozer CPU.

If you really want, and are into extreme modding, I'm sure you could spray paint or powdercoat the CHV mobo to the colors you want. Just reaching out there....
