League of Legends Ping Assistance

Thread Starter
I was wondering, (I don't know what section this belongs in but this seemed most relivant) what ping I should be getting to League of Legends from New York. At the moment I generally get ~100-140 pings, but it sometimes makes a large difference in a fight to get that extra little delay from 100+ pings. I was debating switching my ISP from Optimum online to FiOS. Does anyone here know if I switch to FiOS, would my latency drop in League of Legends? I don't care too much about download speeds etc, I really just want to be able to play with lower pings.

*Also, would upgrading to Optimum Boost or getting my house re-wired help? Atm the Wires are several years old, ~5 years probably*

ping is about location. it's the # of hops it takes to send and receive the packets.
the closer you are or the server you are using to the LoL server the lower the ping.

disabling nagle dropped my ping from 130-140 to 90-95.

From what I can tell that does the same thing at Leatrix? http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html
If it is the same I don't think it will help because I already tried it. frown.gif So if I don't want to move to California I have to deal with high pings?

League of Legends US servers are located in California, so your ping isn't surprising. I'm in Kentucky and get around 75-85 ping, and my friends in Florida get around 85-95.

I get around the 85-100 area give or take with Optimum from Long Island, so your ping isn't unheard of.

EDIT: And 5 years old isn't old for wires. I think we got wired for internet when I was in first grade, and I'm graduating HS in a month. Not old at all.

I have a summer house in Riverhead (If you know where that is), my ping there is ~130+.

Back to topic, I guess 100+ ping isn't too bad if most other people have it also. I had just seen the FiberOptic comercial and thought that it might be faster because of that. I'll keep Optimum Online for now, thanks for the advice.
