I'm looking to buy an SSD, and I think I've narrowed my choices to these two drives.

Intel 320 128gb: http://www.intel.com/design/flash/na...s/overview.htm,

Samsung 470 128gb: http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/m...e/MZ-5PA128/US,
I use Windows XP as an operating system, so I need to have some kind of manual Trim/garbage collection, and I think both these drives have that (Intel Toolbox, Samsung Magician).

From The Anandtech benches, the Samsung looks like the better performer, however I'm not sure about its reliability/durability/lifespan. Reliability and lifespan are very important to me, and I think I would give up some performance for a more reliable drive. I know Intel has a reputation for reliability, but how does the Samsung 470 compare in that department?

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/359?vs=354

Between these drives for Windows XP, which would be the better choice?

Also OP I have heard great things about the reliability of the Intel drives. I havent seen much on the Samsung drives but. Personally I would go intel if your looking for reliability.

Plus if your just a basic user it looks like the speed difference will be negligible and probably not noticeable

*edit* have you considered any of the ocz drives your system will limit you from getting a good experince from the vertex 3 but the vertex2 would make a great drive at about the same or less price

Since I use Windows XP, I need an SSD that has some kind of manual Trim/garbage collection function, and I don't believe the OCZ Vertex 2/3 has that. thanks though

If it were an issue of pricing, go for the extra space. If it were for the issue of space, go for the extra space. You'd be getting roughly the same specs for each, so, why not get more for your buck?
