But hey, better be safe than sorry.
Exactly. I have things going on in my life as well. Dealing with family, going to the store, blahblahblah. I mean, as you can see, I already have a PC in my room, so I'm in no rush. I've got till Thursday for the hard drives.
If I rushed this I would make a mistake. Going slow, I'm having fun.
And, yeah, I think this is a great thread for anyone else building a PC. Considaring I'm using some of the most popular parts out there (ASUS, Corsair, GSkill etc...), this could help others out. Thank you all for bearing with me.
Anyway. I have another question regarding the GPU. I can't screw in all three slots. It's not gonna happen. I took the GPU out last night and put it in again while trying to put those chase slots as close to the case as possible. Put it in, heard the snap, and tried it again. You have to PUSH it against the chase. My fingers are killing me. It's hard to get the screws in. Anyway, only two will go in: the middle and the left. The right one won't give enough room for the hole to be bare. I have put it in right...I mean, there is only one way to put a GPU in. Maybe PCI slots 2 or 3 wouldn't give me any problems, but like I said earlier, ASUS says that PCI slot 1 is the best for a single GPU so I want to stick in this area.
So, I put the two screws in and tightened them with the screwdriver, and went to sleep. Today, I hit the PCI-switch and pushed it down to double confirm that it was in the slot correctly. I pushed the GPU down and the lever went up but there was no click. I tried it with just the middle screw in...same thing. Just the left screw...same thing. I am pushing the lever and pushing the GPU back in WITHOUT lifting it up. I rely on the click to let me know it's in correctly. When I do it with no screws I hear the click.
So what I'm asking is what should I do? What I'm concerned is that by pushing it against the case I am disconnecting it somehow. If I just click it in, put the screws in, and leave it alone, should it be alright? Please give info...Edited by Deverica Wolf - 5/16/11 at 3:59pm
