Cases... Like the FT01?

Thread Starter
Yeah.. this is an odd question but I'm going to ask it anyways.

My friend wants my FT01, so I thought it would be time to upgrade. Then realized that quite frankly I love my FT01.

It's quiet, cools great, looks sleek, black interior with a window to show my hardware with great cable management. All wrapped in a midtower form factor

So looking into replacements, I pretty much got stuck on the Silverstone FT02 and the Corsair 650D. Both are larger, but not by a gigantic factor... seem perfect.

Now to you guys...

Are there any other options out there that I'm over looking? Forget any overly plasticky cases [yeah I'm a hater of plastic, I don't mind admitting that]. Also, I know this is an uber nitpicky-y request, sorry

I'd also like the parts prefab-ed. I've tried making window panels and quite frankly.. they're never perfect and I'm kinda OCD ><

Thanks guys ^^

I wouldn't bother with the ft02, the ft01 is made all of aluminum while the ft02 has steel. I personally would keep the ft01 its a very nice case. The TJ07 would be a good upgrade. Buy another FT01 maybe in silver

The FT02 is definitely the way to go. It keeps with Silverstone's sleek design ethos, but the 90 degree motherboard rotation makes for excellent temps. It's got more than enough space for what's in your sigrig.

Only minor concern is the depth between the underside of the mobo tray and the case side panel is woeful. Coupled with the sound-dampening pads, any wires that run under the tray will be in for a tight fit. You may have difficulty getting it all in.

Wieght isn't a terrible thing though... I've picked up plenty of cases.. and unfortunately a TJ07 is out of my budget and size

Probably the same as the FT01 then... the cables on the back of the tray on the FT01 smash the foam all the way down.. but the panel closes cleanly!

The rotated system and the cooling capability is really the selling point for the FT02, and quite frankly I'm leaning that way too

Pretty much. Depends on how many cables you have back there (I've got far too many, really, for this case). A good tip someone gave me is to get it all in there, than lay the case on its side overnight. That'll get it all to settle into place pretty snug.

Hey, I'm currently using the FT02 and honestly, I'd highly recommend it if you're coming from the FT01. It's pretty damn silent, all the noise is really the air whooshing by rather than the fan motor. Sleek design and honestly the cable management wasn't too bad. You can get those screw down cable clamps from a hardware store and it does wonders. A lot of people complained about it being hard and not being able close the panel flush but I didn't have that issue at all. And yeah, the foam will get compressed a bit where the cable is but nbd

There are multiple tie downs in the case that can be used with some creativity to raise cables and make enough room for them to all fit. The main issue is the 24pin connector, which can't have any cables on top of it otherwise the door won't be able to be put on easily.

If you can use cable clamps in the FT02 then the wires thing really isn't an issue. I had a ton of stuff in my old FT02 and the side panels didn't bulge at all.
