That hardly seems fair. I'm not quite sure what would make the situation more egregious for Europe.

Perhaps EU's more regulated and strict laws on how private data should be stored and protected.
Sony could face some servere penalties if any of the EU's union countries were to go to court to ask Sony some questions.

I would almost welcome that, haha.

I don't blame you for that, although any hacker given enough resources and time can always break in, the latest report showed that Sony was using an outdated unprotected Apache server to host most of their services and data on.
Apparently they also knew about this and decided to do --- nothing.

Even so, using Amazon's cloud computing service provided the hackers with an unprecedented amount of computing power that even the most demanding task would seem trivial.

Still, as soon as I get online I am living on an unknown Island as John Johnson.

It's sad to see people are redy to flame Sony for this. Are people SOOOO attached to gaming online that they can't find anything else better to do?

What can we complain about? PSN service is FREE!!!!
If it was Xbox Live, that would be a perfect reason to be upset.

REALLY? It's just the perfect excuse to find something else better to do. I still love having my PS3 (I don't tend to play 8 hours a day)

Overall, this has helped us in getting more secure. What if Sony NEVER found out about the breach?

People have a right to be upset. Personally, I really couldn't care less while it was down, but many people had specific plans with the weeks it was offline. The big issue, however, was the credit card info leak.

Honestly, it seems pretty clear that no one is in any danger of identity theft or whatnot, but that's not the point. It's the potential damage that COULD have happened. If the hackers WERE out for money, it seems pretty clear they could have gotten some at the consumer's expense. There is definite reason behind the outcry

Yes the console and games are not free. And? You only use PSN if you want, you're not bound to it.

I think people are more annoyed then upset. For my case I always play GT5 with a group of friends on Tue and Thursday and it's a little lame when PSN is down for so long.
