It's sad but true

My buddy told me about this the other day. Apparently vitamin B17 could help cure cancer, but it is banned by the FDA. Not too sure if it's true, just thought it was interesting.

Vitamin B17 has been linked to cyanide poisoning and was thusly removed.

They've been looking at this for decades. Pre-1990 DCA used to be called vitamin B15. It is a water contaminant side-product produced when we chlorinate drinking water.

As an anticancer therapeutic agent it is in pre-clinical trials.
First reference to it (for treatment of a different condition) was in 1969:
Stacpoole PW. J Clin Pharmacol J New Drugs. 1969;9:282–291. It has been proposed for many different diseases/conditions with limited success with some.

It is no conspiracy. The pharma companies answer to their shareholders. It is not patentable, so there is no industry support. Phase I and II clinical trials could possibly be funded by NIH if there was public support, but the current paradigm is that industry support is required to afford full phase III.

It's not a conspiracy, it's not news, it's just a problem with having only a few major privately-owned drug companies.

I honestly think it is insulting to all the doctors and researchers to assume they all hush up a cure for cancer to earn more money. If you have proof, please provide. Otherwise, please stop touting conspiracy theories.

Well said. Such is the price of capitalism.

Meh, after 3 years, I don't care if the pharmaceutical companies were against, I'm pretty sure the combined power of the world would have taken care of getting the info out >.> Not to mention news stations don't give a flying sausage about pharma companies, and a cure for cancer would make for a damn good headline.

As someone posted above, this is terrible journalism. It isn't a magic cure, doesn't just automagically remove all signs of cancer, has side effects, is still in clinical trials, and takes a while to work.
Everyone who is taking everything that article is saying and spitting it back out, don't believe everything on the internet; do some background research.

That article is so scientifically flawed it is annoying. Mitochondria are not cells. Every cell in your entire body contains mitochondria. They are an organelle, not a cell. Show me an article that has a high school understanding of biology and I'll be more impressed. That was pathetic...
