Scenario: You accidentally damage your GPU and it stops working

Lets say you just saved up hundreds of dollars for that brand new GPU which everyone is talking about, and you finally get to buying it. You come home and install it, and it runs perfectly in your new system.

A couple days later, you decide to change your CPU heatsink and you remove your MB. You also remove your GPU from your MB and while you are putting it on the table or something it drops out of your hand, hits a hard surface, and then hits the floor (lets say it is NOT carpet, but tiles). You put your MB back and your GPU back to test it and it is not functional. You try everything but it does not seem to work. The GPU is dead. The GPU still looks brand new, it just doesn't work.

Would you take it back to the store and say it was DOA? I am just curious to see how you guys will respond.

Try RMA'ing, then see how it goes from there. Hard decision. I think a lot of people have gone through what you're going through. Good luck.

This hasn't actually happened to me, it is just a scenario.

If I could RMA, I'd do that. Obviously since this is a "hypothetical" situation, I'll assume that's not an option. In that case, yes, I'll return it to the store.

Edit: If it's a local store like Microcenter, I'd probably return it without attempting an RMA first. If I bought it online, then I'll try RMA'ing first since I'll have to ship the card regardless.

Bite the bullet and pay for a new one. Quit being a noob and handle expensive parts carefully and just don't toss them around carelessly when assembling or disassembling your rig. If you really took a long time to save up for that part why would you treat it with so little respect?
