It breaks ATX specs for +3.3V ripple at 450W. You're hitting 400-500W at full load. You may be causing slow damage to your motherboard's VRMs or your RAM when you stress your system. Consider a better power supply.

A quality 650W would be perfect for your needs.
I'm a big fan of all your PSU articles, read them all, more than once

But how do you explain all the reviews on PSU's (from sites you recommend) that show PSU efficiency highest at ~half load?

A quality 650 or 750 watt is all you need. If you have that itch to upgrade more later on, then a higher PSU can be justified, but ONLY if you decide to upgrade. The Corsair 1000 watt is not the same quality/builder as the 750, 850 or 1200. It's your hard hard earned money, so choose what PSU will really suit your needs.

Yeah that's the one thing in that article that I, with all respects as an electronics technician of 15 years, disagree with. It seems you are not measuring system power draw from the wall, and only taking into consideration apparent power, not reactive power, and thus you underrate the real power draw.

BTW I am using 30% CAP aging because your Johnny Guru article said my PSU is a real POS and I've already beat on it pretty hard for two years

Edit: hey keep an eye on the river. It's not looking too good for LA. I heard Bobby Jindal might divert the river into some lesser populated areas, but regardless be alert for any hooligans

They're going to divert it down the Morganza spillway. 800,000 people at risk vs. 20,000 people at risk. It sucks for the 20k, but it's the obvious choice. We're on relatively high ground regardless.

Apparent/reactive power has nothing at all whatsoever to do with what I wrote. PFC wasn't even mentioned in the article.

Your ModXStream Pro is ok. When did I call it crap?

The TR2 or TR2 RX, because afaik they have different internals.

Well, I was wondering if it was junk, since I only paid about $35 for it new, so that's when I looked at one of your posts, which referred me to Johnny Guru, which according to O-scope measurements I got my money's worth

The simplest solution is to get a quality power supply. Read reviews (jonnyguru.com, hardwaresecrets.com, hardocp.com, etc.)
On a side note, the Phenom II x6's can consume a LOT of power when overclocked/overvolted. A prime95 run with a 1090T @4100 1.5v consumed 440W I can believe it, because I had to disable two cores just to maintain my overclocks and stay in temperature threshhold. Damn Gulf Coast is too hot
