I had a similar problem with my haf922. It wasnt designed for 1155/1156 motherboards. My solution was to take my dremel and cut about 1/2-3/4 of an inch of the bottom part of the backplate hole on the motherboard tray.
Depending on the backplate though, you might be fine leaving it as it is. I was using a cm hyper 212+ w/ backplate and it caused the motherboard tray to bend outward just a little bit, but the motherboard itself was fine.
Push come to shove you can cut off a peice of the motherboard tray like I did. If you take this route be sure to sand the portion that was cut. If not sanded, it will leave a very sharp edge which can cut your skin open.
