Need help for folding

I recently realized that I cant fold on my main pc, it just doesn't work out as expected. My idea is, a dedicated folder. I have some money I was going to blow on jewelry but I think a dedicated folder will be a little better. I tell you one thing, I am really starting to hate the sound of my pc's.
Heres my thoughts.

4x GTX 590
p8p67 WS Revolution
Core i5 2500k(is this necessary?)

What kind of psu would i need and also what kind of case. I want something I can lay on its side without issues. and that I can eventually stack another ontop of it. Would I need to go water cooled for this? I would prefer air. The only place I can put them is my bed room. So I would like them somewhat quiet. Right now I have an antec 900 with all fans on high(not the 200mm it broke) and my sig rig. Can i say that it is noisy , very noisy.
Thanks for suggestions.

4 gtx 590? What nuclear power plant do you have a direct line to? Wouldn't you need X58's extra pcie lanes to fully utilize those? 8x per gpu is the minimum for optimal performance I thought; and 8 gpus = 36 lanes. Huh, a case where x58 retains superiority I suppose. Or you could wait for 2011. Get one of Case Labs cases from here on ocn. You'd probably need watercooling because the 590's are loud. Something like two corsair ax1200 psu's would do I think.

$200 cpu,
$300+ for mobo,
4 $6-700 cards,
1 $400 case,
4 $150 blocks,
$3-400 wc gear,
$80 ram,
$50 hdd,
$100 moniter,
$30 Keyboard & Mouse
a nice uptick in your power bill

From some review i have seen even putting this card in a 4x slot which is 2x for each card there is not real difference. I would love to see how this card handles a 1x slot. Does folding utilize lots of bandwidth? I understand the calculations are high but do they demand alot of bandwidth? I found the MSI Big Bang-Marshal with 8 slots really interesting.it is 8x/1x alternating all the way down. I could fir 8 590s in one case and water cool it. I know it isn't going to be easy, maybe I will need to link a few psu's but that would be one heel of a beast. 8192 cuda cores for the cause would be interesting. Not to mention the boost my e peen will get. Just thinking about it I think i will need at least 3 1500w psu's for this. Maybe a 4u server case?
I think to make a 590 fir in one slot i need a water block and some cutting tools. If i cut the upper dvi port will that affect the card. I know, warrant out the window, but I found an insurance company that will insure hardware so if it fails I am covered with 0 deductible. it adds like $100 to each card. And that includes accidental damage, I guess a card can run over it at some point when it dies.
This will be an interesting project. I need more money now, my paltry $1500 is only a deposit now.
BTW, i think this is a great investment, perhaps this will lead to some cures, i took a look at the f@h site and it's not just cancer it is lots of things.
So back to reality. I think i need at least $3000 just to get started and then i could add in more cards as i go along.

I've been thinking about that build recently as well for folding. It can be done. Two on an air cooled system draws around 850-900w on full load. Imagining you'll be folding smp, as well as a water cooling system, I would say around 1500w psu.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256054

A 2600k would be a better choice of cpu for folding.

I hope to get two 590s and a 1k psu, then another 590 later. When that happens I would wire another PSU into my system to power it.

Sounds interesting.I plan on powering mt wc loop externally. I might make a loop with a bunch on card radiators. Is that possible. I have 4 radiators from a dodge caravan. Fans all work also. Maybe i can put that in the basement and route piping through the walls. but then the issue of condensation comes up. how many standards rads would be needed to cool 8 590's. I recently did my first experiment with multi gpu with some 5830's and found that cooling is an issue in small cases like the antec 900. I was thinking this case would be good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811152158

You can't quad-sli Gtx 590. Gtx 590 is a dual gpu card. Gtx 580×2= Gtx 590.

You can only go Sli with Gtx 590. And the 590 aren't recommended for their vrm issues "they burn so fast"

im not using them for sli, strictly folding. Im sure they will never play a game. vrm issues dont bother me, slight overclocks are fine. 16 gpu's in one box is worth it.
