My parents won't let me buy a DSLR - Page 2

When I was a kid I found the best time to ask for things was when my parents felt guilty about something.
ie. dad missed your big soccer game.

Give it a go and lemme know what happens smile.gif

Lol. Awesome ideas, but there's no way I can get one. I would really love to. It's really tough convincing them.

The H55 is a good camera. It has full manual settings and performs decently for a point and shoot. The shortcomings of the camera I think are that it lacks Aperture Priority and Shutter priority, and there's really only two aperture settings you can switch between (versus the large range of aperture settings on a DSLR you can use.)

That said, I'd try to hold out for a DSLR biggrin.gif Rebel XS w/ 18-55mm IS lens is $319 + tax.

I'm not sure if I could hold out for another year. Lol

..So how much do you have to spend then? I'm guessing you can get a lot better than the H55.

How would they tell if the camera was a DSLR or a P&S?

Well, you should talk to them. Explain the why the DSLR would help you be a better photographer by letting you have more manual options than the average point and shoot, the ability to switch lenses, etc.

If you don't mind buying used, you can get some cool deals.

Nikon D3000 w/ 18-55VR: http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20435967.html

Really a great camera, easy to use, the lens is fantastic, and it appears to be open box.
