Thanks for the information. I've always read people say it has to be 1.5 so I went with it. Never thought any further on the issue.

With your colour scheme I would suggest the gigabyte 560ti SOC, has a ble PCB, and performance on par with a 6970 :-)
Asrock is an interesting choice, don't really know much about them, I'd personally go with MSI or Asus but it's your choice.
With that GPU you won't be able to unlock it to a 6970 incase you ever want to, so I would go with a Gigabyte 2gb reference 6950, it will help you down the road.
The CPU cooler could be cheaper, look for some air cooling solutions, I'd suggest the v8 but it's really big and since this is your first time building a computer, you may have some trouble installing it. Maybe try the 212?

I have been doing a lot of research on PC parts, I would really like to get all your opinions on the items I chose. I will use this PC for mostly gaming and watching movies. A big priority of mine is being able to multi task, specifically: being able to play a game and download music/ movies/ burn movies to dvd at the same time w/o compromising the quality/performance of the game I am playing.

Approximate Purchase Date: After AMD bulldozer

Budget Range: about $1500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, movies, and browsing

Country of Origin: US

Overclocking: I have never done this before, but after I build my PC I plan to do an extensive amount of research on this, so yes

SLI or Crossfire: yes, in the near future

Monitor Resolution: This is something i would like to get help on. I would like to spend at most $300. Please give recommendations on monitors. preferably on a 23'-27' monitor.

Additional Comments: I would like to get some recommendations on a computer case. I want to spend at most $150 on this. I would like a Sleek case, one with a window to check out my hardware, nothing that looks too aggressive. I REALLY like the way the corsair obsidian 800d looks, the only problem is that its too big an cost too much.

My build (so far)

I'm trying to look for a radeon 6950 card that I can unlock but I can't find any.
Please send me a link to one.

Ya I've never heard of asrock. I'll look into Asus and msi mobo's

Also, if I crssfire 2 unlocked radeon 6950's will it be overkill with one monitor. The monitor I plan on using is an Asus VW246H

Thanks for the replies.

Absolutely. It's a very recent & powerful card, dwarfed only by the 6970 & if you get a reference board (as linked above) you can apply that firmware update to have it run on the 6970's spec's since it's the exact same hardware. Down the line it may be advantageous once these cards are a little more dated & newer games need more oomph, but you'll be hardpressed to find a game that would truely tax that card to the point where another would give you an tangible benefit.
