5770 getting hot after 11.5

Thread Starter
After i installed CCC 11.5 my 5770 Graphics card is getting hotter then usual, my idea temps are close to 60c! and when i player a game reaches from anywhere from 65-80c+, these temps where never that high before the new update. i dont understand how this effects the temps but i see a difference coming from 32 idle to 60idle in a day.

Any help,
thanks
matt

You fan settings must have been reset or something.

Go into CCC -> Performance -> AMD Overdrive and check you fan settings.

Did you used to have it on Auto before the overheating started?

Are you sure your GPU is downclocking properly?
Check in MSI Afterburner

Interesting. I just checked this myself and with 11.5 my idle temp went up by 4c. Used to be 38c idle, now 42c.

It's not a big difference, but still. Either way the card will still be fine with a load temp of 80c.

i know its safe at 80c its just unusual for it to be this hot from what it was before the update.

Yea do so, i hope im not the only one noticing these temp changes. then im pretty much screwed if its the card it self. unless its a software issue.

Thanks for the replys.

@ Matthew_Rocz - How can you stand the sound of the XFX card at those speeds? It was unbareable for me. I had to replace the stock cooler with a Setsugen 2. My second card is a Sapphire with the Egg-shaped cooler which is much quieter than the brick on the XFX.

my temps went up as well,. but only by 1-2c under load. do make sure your cards are under clocking when not in use as mentioned, and i agree with CHez, the sound is unbearable, i have 2 5770s X-fired (sapphire) with the full block shroud and even when these are OC and im running something massively extreme even Furmark, they don't get loud. if u cant find a solution, fall back to the old catalyst and wait for an update, there have been older builds where mine would spike in temp, and i would just wait for a patch.

its not going to hurt to revert back. just do it and make sure everything is dust free. and in a few weeks there will be a patch and you should be good to go
