125w Phenom II 940 on 95w capable motherboard

Thread Starter
So after reading this thread http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/10...problem-3.html I decided to check out my own PC. It appears I'm running a very similar situation but don't have any issues yet.

My CPU is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103471 and my motherboard is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813135075. Apparently I didn't do enough research when I bought my new CPU. I had read that it was Phenom II compatible but what they really meant was Phenom II 95 watt processor compatible.

What I really would like to know is what risks do I have and possible consequences or anything I need to know. I've been running this way for about 4 months with no issues if that matters at all. I do casual gaming now, League of Legends and Darkspore, and nothing that I'd really call CPU intensive. If you guys need any more info just let me know.

Thanks

Consequences are that your motherboard ,CPU and so on might get fryed .
Boom ,flames and ... wasted money.

Just don t do it to avoid fire hazard .

Oh and the board not only that it s 95W ,but it s an ECS

You are really pushing it! Your cpu will eventually murder your mobo. Plus you don't have heatsinks on the VRM's so they will be the first to die. They can take the CPU with them and when they burn you may find yourself looking for a new CPU.

So....

Lets just say that ECS sucks but would probably be somewhat reliable with the right wattage cpu?

It'll work fine as long you don't do any over-volting. Over-clocking on stock volts is an option; it won't blow up.

This is the main thing ,the board is rated 95 W TDP and he wants to put a 125W TDP in.
ECS doesn t suck ,it s just what it is and was ,nothing more nothing less.
