Why I'm not waiting for Bulldozer.

Thread Starter
Up until a couple of weeks ago, if you would have asked me "What's your next upgrade", I would have said Bulldozer. However, with AMD's utter lack of publicity, all I see is a scared kid who knows that their product is "better, but not better than the competition". Basically, Intel is the only SURE THING when it comes to performance. That's what I need, a sure thing. AMD's lack of interaction with their community visavi showing what Bulldozer is capable of seems really sketch, as Intel has no problem giving preliminary benchmarks at all, and they always deliver.

Who knows though, I may be wrong about the whole thing...but I really don't see Bulldozer outperforming Sandy Bridge. This is why I've ordered my Intel parts already.

If you ask me, patience is a virtue. Just because Intel likes to build hype doesn't mean AMD lack of info is going to be short coming. Even if bulldozer isn't going to out preform sandy bridge, you can put my money on it that it's going to have a better price/performance ratio and that what the average user looks for. I'm happy with my Phenom II 955 because it does everything I want it to do. Congrads on you switch to Intel, you won't be disappointed with the parts. As for others like me, I'll wait because I've only got time.

I have noticed a rather sparse amount of information regarding what Bulldozer is capable of. Has AMD sent out engineering samples to anyone for advance review? The only thing I'm thinking is that they may have asked for NDAs for some reason.

My mentality is that Intel is a sure thing. I don't have to worry about ANY sort of performance issues with an Intel setup. Just plain and simple. AMD on the other hand has been disappointing me since the Athlon X2 series...why couldn't they remain epicsauce like the original Athlon series? Besides, Intel has zero issues releasing performance charts before the release of a product. If I'm not mistaken, they have for Ivy Bridge already...so yeah.

If you would have waited you would know whether or not BD was a "sure thing" ... lol

I get where you're coming from but it was a bit of a silly move IMO
