Looking at the video in detail, a few things are annoying me;

~ WTH is up with the kill xxx mobs quests. No. Bad SWTOR. *slaps* That is nothing but a timesink and a grind.

~ Mob AI is standard, which is bad, because MMO mob AI saps epicness out of everything, especially kill XXXX quests. There was a section where he got knocked down and the mob takes a few seconds to gaze at him before following up. In a normal RPG, they'd be running at you straight away and taking a few stabs while you're down.

~ That guys PC might've sucked, + stream quality as well, but man, my eyes were bleeding. It's 2011, and there are MMO's coming out using higher power engines such as UE3. That looks like it came out a few years ago. Still..alpha/beta though, so might improve.

~ Why the hell did a goddamn keyboard turner get into beta but I didn't.

I know it doesn't sound fun, but Mob AI and "kill xxx mob quests" are pretty much integral to MMO gameplay. A lot of the fun in MMO comes from competition; getting the highest levels, getting the best armor, killing the hardest bosses, etc. Grinding more isn't much fun, but it lets you show off to your friends. The unfortunate part is that Bioware made it seem like this was going to be a singleplayer story-driven RPG that happened to be multiplayer. Instead, it's a fairly standard MMO with some nice animation and above-average cutscenes.

Not overly impressed, but what we can't see in this video is the developing overarching storylines, which are, in my opinion, the most important parts of these games.

Man, if i could internet slap someone, you would get it. MOB AI and Grind quests are not integral. They are a relic from when that was the best they could do, because of bandwidth concerns, and server power, along with PC power.

None of those are a concern now.

..I'm sorry I personally offended you. If people didn't feel rewarded for long boring grinds, MMOs like RuneScape wouldn't be as popular as they are. People like saying "Look! See how much time I spent in this game! Look at my weapon/level/armor/etc!"

But yeah, please calm down, I don't mean to hurt your feelings.

didnt hurt my feelings. I was just hoping that some violence could set you straight.

IF you assume that things cannot be improved then you can continue to wallow in your filth of boring MMOs.

Ill be playing guild wars 2. Those guys see the problem with the MMO genre, and believe they can be improved. So they are creating new combat mechanics, mob ai, and tactics that prove what can be done in a modern MMO.

...When did I say they couldn't be improved?
Wallowing in my filth of boring MMOs? You sound like some teenage fanboy right now, calm down. I didn't say I liked grinding or that it was impossible to make a game without, I just said that many people like the results of long grinding sessions, and it makes them feel better about their characters. I seriously don't see how this could offend you.

I wouldn't worry about him too much. His opinion to him should be law.
