Solid Copper Pump Top

Thread Starter
Hi, I am new to OCN and am currently working on a custom build involving a copper theme. I have been searching the internet up and down and I absolutely can't find a pump top that I like. I was curious if anyone on here knew anything about a solid copper pump top. I have no access to a CNC machine and zero skill with CAD or I would make it myself. This is not meant to be a benchmarking machine or anything like that. I just want something that will get the job done and look cool doing it. I havent picked out a pump yet so it can be made to fit pretty much anything.

I don't think anything like that exists for the consumer. Too expensive to manufacture for such a small market. You could ask someone to make it for you or paint a top with copper paint for the same look minus the expensive price.

I really don't want to paint it. It would ruin the solid copper feel. got exposed copper blocks, custom made copper res, and radiators. I would really hate to skimp on a tiny thing like a pump top. Does anyone have the skills and tools to do this?

Yeah, you'd have to get it commissioned and done up as a custom job depending on the pump top. unless you get like a friggin water utility pump, then you may find something, but it'd look too industrial.

tell you what though, you can plate delrin. Dupont's got a catalog article (look under like Chapter 8) that says you can chrome plate. Doesn't say how and mentions "Special Process recommended" which probably means you'll need to sell organs and your first few children to pay for it.

edit------------
I mention delrin as it seems to be the pump top material of choice for aftermarket pump... top... makers... I guess that's what they're called haha.

another option is a simple "pump box" that you stick the pump inside to hide the thing.

I know that the Swiftech MPC355 uses a fairly simple design for its top can anyone machine something like this out of a copper block?

I'd get to searching around your area or online to find a company that'll do cnc request. Show them the top with dimensions or buy it and send it to them for you to make. Just be prepared to pay.

YOU CAN DO THIS ... It's not that difficult really. Here's a DIY approach to review ...

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=96281

Whether your pump is a DDC or something else, you can be creative. A copper/brass metallic would be great!

Just send a PM to Bill Owen. He reps MNPCTECH and specializes in custom parts. I've ordered tons of parts from him and he's quite accommodating. They have a CNC and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to make one for you. Not sure whether I'd trust anyone around somerset to do it to the exact specifications and quality needed in ur case. Now if you were looking for a houseboat that would be a different story

You could probably even get a completely custom copper housing made for the 355/35X's internals as well. That would be awesome. If they won't do it also try Danger Den. I'm curious about having DD make me some out of black nickel for the build I'm working on instead of getting bitspower dress up kits.

Thanks Stallion. You are always a huge help. To be honest, the houseboat factories have some pretty advanced CNC tech but they are all shut down for the most part because of the economy. Shot Bill Owens an email to see if it can get done. Super excited to see your Liquid Death when it is finished. Got all the money I need for a case so I think i am going to pull the trigger on a MM Pinnacle 24 tonight. Got it sitting in my shopping cart and working on the nerve to make $300+ disappear from my pocket.
