is the u2711 for me?

I was thinking about getting dell u2711 as my main screen. I already know its not a gaming monitor, but im really tempted to buy it as i can get it for around 650 dollars.

my current set up is , samsung 2433bw and samsung p2570HD (monitor/TV)
and a single gtx 470.

im looking forward to playing battlefield 3, and ive heard people saying its not really bad for gaming , but im wondering how bad it can be for FPS games like battlefield.
I recently dropped my gtx 470 sli set up, as i felt it was an overkill for bfbc2, on my 1920x1200 monitor. the idea is to get a newer GPU closer to bf3 release.

i know new samsung monitors are due soon, and that theyre gonna be in the same price range of the u2711 (600-700)

as for other tasks, i dont do any kind of design , i just edit alot of text as im a lawyer and do research from several sources at the same time so multiple displays and bigger resolutions are good for me.

any input on this will be appreciated.
any recommendations are welcome , i know there are alot of very nice displays for gaming and other stuff. my budget is of course 650-700.

For $650 you cannot hesitate.

This.

It's good for gaming, I play semi-professional COD4 and I don't notice any real screen tearing. Only ever notice it in HD/Blurays, and that's very slight.

It's got amazing colours. Once you go IPS, you won't go back.
