TDP on a unlocked 555 be

Thread Starter
I unlocked my AMD 555 be to a b55 quad core. hwmonitor is reading the TDP of the unlock at 160W+

Is this a accurate reading or is it just doubling the 80w TDP of the stock x2.

I'm curious as my motherboard is rated for 140w processors and I would rather not overload the VRM's if this reading is accurate.

most likely be at 140watt or close to it. most x4s are 125 or 140. hw monitor reports my 1055t at 110 when i got a 95watt processor

yup, i have a B55 X4 and TDP in cpuz is 160W, its just a glitch so dont bother with it, its really 125w.
If you want ill post a creen.

HWMonitor is a joke to view your CPU's TDP..... Woulden't bother

B55 x4 is at least 125W from the added TDP & power consumption. Though HWMonitor is a joke in its wattage reading, as a Phenom II x2 555 unlocked would be around the same binning as a 955, it is a 125W after added TDP/power consumption.
This may be of worry on your 4+1 unheatsinked mobo; not that it will cause any failure since ASUS features VRM protection by way of CPU throttling to lower VRM heat & prevent failures, but you will want to get some cooling of sort on there for the best overclock. Otherwise the VRM protection may activate too often due to overheating VRMs and you get an overclock that really doesn't work properly and end results in more performance loss than gain.

when you say best overclock do you mean similar speeds on less vcore or higher speeds on similar vcore. Im currently running 4.0 on ~1.48. I was at 4.1 but started experiencing significant artifacts well folding, downclocked back to 4.0 and have been fine. would like to try to lower the vcore but so far haven't been able to get stable with 4 cores on that speed with any less

Seems fair but be sure your VRMs are getting proper cooling. With the Kuhler 620 which is aftermarket cooling, you may not be getting any VRM cooling as the air usually skips over the VRMs. This may cause in some problems running your overclock i.e. random throttling/downclocking even if the CPU is running cool. You should get some MOSFET heatsink apparatus on there and/or perhaps a small fan to blow in that area.

both 955 c2 and c3 = 125w

c2
http://products.amd.com/pages/deskto...il.aspx?id=532

c3
http://products.amd.com/en-na/Deskto...il.aspx?id=618

dont trust the tdp programs show the cpu as
hwmon shows mine at 178w (showed around 155w @ 3.0 x 4)

My shows 160w on a dual core. With the core unlocker on but with only with 2 cores on.

You can buy some Enzotech C1 or C10 heatsinks like I did, they work really nice.
