My Shopping List So Far

Thread Starter
Ok so on order I have a HAF X case, i7 2600k, two EVGA GTX 580s and a AX 1200 PSU.

I would like to watercool this thing. Im on EKs site right now, and have put these items in my cart.

1x EK-Supreme HF - Acetal
2x EK-FC580 GTX+ - Acetal
1x EK-FC Link R48X0/58X0
1x EK-Multioption RES X2 - 250 Advanced
1x Laing DDC-Pump 12V DDC-1Plus (MCP 355)
1x EK-CoolStream RAD XT (360)
1x EK-CoolStream RAD XTC (140)
4x Scythe Ultra Kaze DFS123812H-3000 rpm
10x EK-PSC Fitting 10mm - G1/4 Black
1x TUBE Masterkleer 13/10mm UV - BLACK

Thats it so far, did I count right on the compression fittings?

My idea is the 360 rad up top near the 200mm fan. The 140 near the power supply. The res side mounted by vid cards. The pump near PSU I suppose. Will have to draw it all out.

Just need to make sure Im getting everything I need, and that its the right parts. The second number on the tubing is what I pay attention to for the compression fitting size correct?

Thanks for any help.

For the compression fittings, you need to match BOTH the ID and OD numbers.
Compression fittings? you need:

2 for each rad = 4
+1 for each gpu water block (and the link) = 6
+2 for pump=8
+2 for res=10

no CPU block??? EDIT - H50
I'm guessing you aren't too worried about a budget or else we could try to save you some money on other retailer sites. But if you want all EK and want it to match, it looks pretty good!

What are you doing with your old mobo & cpu?

I figure if Im going to do this, Im going to do this RIGHT.

Not TO worried about cost, and would like to have it all black etc. Going into a HAF X Nvidia edition case. So all black I think is best.

Hrm, ok so that tubing is 13 OD/ 10 ID?

Anyone got any advice/ideas/rants for this part list?

This is all I need correct? And this pump will work for the two radiators or I need more pump power?

Finally the reservoir, does the size of this matter? And does EK have bay reservoirs so I can put it up in the 5 1/4 bays?

Thanks for any help.

So went with the

EK-BAY Spin RES DUAL Loop - Plexi

instead of the other, for a bay reservoir.

And now also got a

Laing D5-Pump 12V (MCP 655)

For the pump.

Do I need the 140mm rad at the bottom? From all Ive read I need two rads for dual gpus and cpu. But I dunno, hoping an expert will look this over and say yay or nay.

Ok well going to order I suppose.

Will go with one 360 rad for now, hopefully that will work for 2 GPUs and one CPU.

I thought you were using your H50 for the CPU?

one 360 rad should cool those two cards fine in a single loop with a good pump like that.

what water block did you get for the CPU?

If it's a THICK 360 rad, comparable to an XSPC RX series, you can prob get away with it for a while with decent temps, but I know most people here will suggest a second rad, that way you could break up your loop to have a rad after the CPU to cool the water before it enters the GPUs. It really depends on the OC and voltage you plan top throw into the mix.

My SLI 580s are on air bc I just got them, but I still OC them to 900-950 @ 1.125-1.15. this leads to 90*C temps and a hot room that makes the PC unstable at times. I'm guessing one rad will hold them off @ ~60* and the second rad might make a 10-15* difference by not transferring hot water directly from the CPU.

This is mostly speculation, as I've never run a 2 rad system, and I don't know how you plan to do your routing.

You don't need a massive res. Some people like me feel safer with one as it gives more water supply (sometimes allowing for greater heat dissipation for a short time) in case something terrible happens. For the most part, it just allows you to check the water level and to clear the bubbles out of your system.

EDIT: where are all the normal WC pros? should have had at least 4 different people jump in by now.

I know, Ive read all the guides, Im pretty sure Im ready to jump in.

But I dunno, lotta money to get something in the list wrong.

I was thinking of like a 120 on the bottom of the HAFX case near the powersupply, I know that will fit. I saw one build where a guy had a 240 or so hanging off the back of the case. I definitly dont want that.

So yeah, havent ordered yet, cursor is over the order button though. Just dont want to get this first WC for me wrong.

EDIT: The H50 is on the computer I have right now. Building whole new machine.
