I just took a look at my case and it seems like you would have to remove the faceplate of the case (which includes the front door) to take them off.I can't see exactly how that hinge works without removing the front.

For what it's worth I had my computer folding 24/7 for the CC and It didn't bother me at all when I had to go to sleep. (its about 5 feet from the bed).

I kept the 2 fans that come with the case and put them in front and added 2 gentle typhoons.

Cheers

You mean the fan filters?

If so, yes, you can remove those. Only thing I dislike about my R3 right now is the position of the front panel door as I sit on the opposite side so I cannot open it all to easily. I might just move it to my left so I can though.

No, not the filters. With the case there's the outer door, then there's another door covering the filter that's covering the fan.

I guess it's a filter, but it's more of a door.

http://www.fractal-design.com/img_prod/blbild_6.jpg There's a better description of what I mean by "door".

Fractual case due to the HDD cage alignment...makes it easier to remove HDD without intruding the videocard....

Not sure which one is better, but I can tell you what I've experienced with the R2. The drive cage is not removable, limited to 2 5.25" bays, screws that come with the case are easy to strip, so install the screws with caution, and most importantly, cleaning the dust filters are a big hassle.
