Ah okay then, but won't they be a tad high in price?

Uh and for the CPU's, what your saying is, a quad with a higher clock speed would be better than the six core Phenom at 3.2GHz?
It will depend on the application. Some programs wont take full advantage of more cores so a higher speed will be more beneficial.

We shall see once they release.

Yep, didn't think about that...

It's time to go into 'chin scratching' mode.

What's a 'reference version'? and how would I 'unlock' it?

I've thought about maybe getting 2 Radeon HD 6950's in Crossfire, with all other specs the same (excluding the motherboard as that has to be changed to support two PCIe graphics card slots) . This comes to a total of £895, do you think that is a better deal than 1 Radeon HD 6970 plus the rest of the specs for the £750? Also that is with a £40 reduction due to changing the processor to a Phenom II X4 @ 3.4GHz.

OMG. Never post any where else
just Off-topic so you're count stays at 0

A reference version is the version released by AMD, they are then changed, new coolers, PCB designes, everything is changed
Reference versions also have the voltage unlocked so are better at OC'n

this is reference version with reference cooler

Notice the square shape and AMD above the PCi-e pins, this shows that I is a reference version

Guide on how to unlock here, very easy/fool proof
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/159

Make sure you get a reference version, look for that AMD logo

Yeah that's the pic of the one I'm getting (hopefully that'll be the one that comes with it when I get it )

I'll have a look through that and see if I can do it (coz I'm not exactly a pro when it comes to playing around with hardware settings and shizzle)

Also, would that work with two HD 6950's in CrossFire?

Hmm, after reading through that, it kinda looks like one of those things I wouldn't like to do in case I mess it up badly and yeah I know there are recovery methods and whatnot, just seems like something I wouldn't want to do until I get more... acquainted with the new PC
