Sapphire 6870 fans not spooling up on auto settings.

I been having this issue since the last 11,3, before that driver every time I entered a 3d app the fans would spool up to 100% now in furmark they sit at 35% and the cards happily hit 80 odd degrees = not so good.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to get about it (apart from setting the fan manually @ 100%).

Could I edit the driver in any way, or should I try custom fan profiles in AB or trixx?

it is actually pretty common for reference design radeon card to hit 80+on auto settins, them spooling up to 100% before is more odd then what it is doing now.

Certainly you can setup a custom fan profile in afterburner if it really bothers you...if it is not going over 90 in furmark then the current settings are actually working decently though.

It's working fine enough, but I just thought it odd that it would spool up on auto before 11.3 on auto from 35% and now it's not moving from 35% at all.

I haven't let it get to 90 because that seems a little toasty to me but it was quite a solid rise in the temp and still rising before I stopped the test.

use afterburner and just make them go faster.

after like 80, overclocking performance drops off a lot, so if you wanna hit high clocks, keep them below that.

We'll do.

So custom fan profile it is then.

PS I think I'll email AMD to see if this is a problem with the driver or hardware (just to cover the bases).

Thanks for the verification +1 to both of you
