Winflash freezes my PC - Trying to unlock shaders on 6950

Thread Starter
So I've tried to unlock the 6950 shaders and start OCing my gpu but when I used Winflash as administrator my computer got stuck in a weird freezing cycle where the screen would go black, then come back, and freeze and then go black again.

Any help would be appreciated.

I got the same issues, tried every method of flashing I could find after several days of googling and forum searches.

From what I gather so far, AMD have decided to put a stop to the BIOS unlocks and have removed the secondary (flashable) BIOS, leaving only a read only one.
Not even a forced flash through DOS will work for my one.

Mine is an XFX 6950 2GB btw, already exchanged once from a read-only Sapphire in the hope I'd get a modifiable BIOS.

Personally I don't even care about the extra shaders, I just want to have the option of overclocking more than 40mhz.. but I can't find any way of getting past that limit.

I know XFX made a revision that makes their GPUs unable to unlock any more, most likely to avoid warranty issues. The HIS 6950 should be able to unlock no problem.

Been reading more into it, apparently ati winflash should be booted from a disk or through DOS. I have no idea how to do that but if your interested I'll show you when I figure it out.
