Not really, just spend 10 minutes making a boot CD, 20 minutes scanning, and you're done.
And virut doesn't take 10 min to clean.

Either way you can end up with a computersystem so badly damaged that recovery is not possible and it cannot be repaired . When that happens there is nothing you can do besides reformatting and reinstalling the OS.
