Looking for a cooler...

Thread Starter
I know this sounds dumb but I'm looking for a cpu cooler for a i5-2500k processor. The thing is I'm trying to make this system look awesome and all the same color so I'm looking for something that's black.

Originally I was looking at the coolermaster v6 gt but then I read a review that said the mounting system / noise was awful. I was also thinking about the h60 since I've tried all the other h series from corsair rolleyes.gif

My goal is 4.5 ghz. I'm looking for something with fans if possible under 75$ total.

Honestly, the h60 is the entry level to the new liquid cool from corsair. I dont see a big difference between this and the H50 since that have the same size radiator, though the H60 does have a flatter more effective square base. One problem is that the square base has been a problem with CPU sockets because of the square shape. So make sure your Mobo CPU socket has space. Otherwise, I would rather just do a H50 now that it is waaaaay cheaper.

Good luck, kudos appreciated.

No, it does not sound dumb to look for a cooler with the right colour to match the theme of your rig.

For a 'black' heatsink, I suggest:-

1. Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (TRUE) Black Anniversary Edition
TRUE was the one before Silver Arrow and NH-D14 come along. Though no longer the top performer today, it is still an excellent heatsink. It is selling 'cheap' at US$55, leaving you some money to buy good fans.

2. Thermalright Venomous X Black Edition
This one is also an excellent performer, selling also 'cheap' at US$67.

Both can take your i5-2500k to 4.5GHz with no problem.

3. Prolimatech MegaShadow
This is also a black high performer but it is getting out-of-production. So, it is harder to find now.

Forget the cooler scheme and go with something that you get your moneys worth with, these are all great cooler's

I second the Venomous X or the TRUE. They're both epicly epic coolers. If you didn't have the color requirement, I would have recommended the Thermalright Archon - the thing is beast, 27C idle and barely 50C on full load.
