Recommend me PSU wattage and brand

PSU on brother's computer sounds like a jet engine and I think the fan is spinning in an oval.

It's a 600W Silverstone Strider, but I don't have anything to tell me the warranty length. I believe it's 3 years, which gives me about a month to RMA it. They stated on their site they don't cross-ship (which I believe is advanced RMA) so that's kinda negative. Can't say how quick he wants his computer back though.

If I were to just purchase a new PSU, however, what would I be looking at for these specs:

Intel Q6600 G0, no OC
GeForce 8800GTS 512mb
EVGA nForce 780i
8GB DDR2 800MHz, 4x2GB
Creative Sound Blaster card
4x120mm fans, 1x140mm
DVD writer
Also, throw in room how a possible OC; don't know how high I could get a Q6600, so be generous and assume it's high

With wattage in tow, what would I be looking at. Looking for low cost, but a reputable brand name. I was looking at the Corsair CX600 possibly, Corsair TX650 or the Antec Earthwatts 650. That's if I stick around ~600W.

A nice 500w would be more than enough. The Earthwatts EA500D is good, so is every PSU around 500w in this list.

have you completely narrowed it down to the power supply being the noise? I would turn all other fans off and listen up close to make sure it is. If it is that then you may want to try to RMA it and see if they let you. If not the best unit I would recommend is the XFX 650. It's 90% modular, $58.99 after a $30 MIR, and is based off of a SeaSonic platform. The same SeaSonic platform that the Corsair TX650V2 except the XFX unit is modular and has the rebate. As previously stated your rig would definitely run on a weaker power supply but at that price point I would get the 650 and not have to pretty much ever have to worry about a powersupply.

Yes, it's the PSU. All fans off. Plus, like I stated, it's not spinning in a circle. Well, it is, just not on its proper axis. It's whacked.

And I'm looking for stuff IN Canada; doubt I'd get that rebate.

Thanks tough. Appreciated greatly.

It's a little more expensive since you're in Canada. I did find the same unit on newegg.ca with a $20 MIR. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-014-_-Product

Yikes. I was hoping to keep it around $60-80. And I usually don't buy from anyone but DirectCanada.com.

And this is why: http://www.directcanada.com/products...anufacture=XFX

Gotta love the deals.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm putting it on the list of possibilities now.

Consider this 630w which is OCN recommended.

$69.99 Free Shipping

The Antec EA650w is also a great choice.

Looking mainly at getting stuff of DirectCanada.com, but I'll keep this in mind if I look into a different vendor. Thanks.

Did you connect the gpu to a strand of its own and not sharing a strand with any other devices?

What's a strand and what does my GPU have anything to do with this?
