Did this i52500k just breathed new life into my 260gtx

Thread Starter
Okay I have owned this system for a few weeks now but it seems like my 260gtx is running like a new card.

On my old q6600@3.2ghz I was getting 29-45fps on dx9 in bc2 and there was constant stuttering, now I get 50-65fps dx10 with some aa with the same card. Some games like MW2 had few increases but not as big as BC2, as for Shogun2 I cannot speculate whether the 2500k improved my performance or the newest patch. However I just don't understand how changing to i52500k could improve my 260gtx so much, its not like the 260gtx is such a great card that a 3.2 Q6600 could bottleneck it or is it.

I know there was a thread a while ago where the user claimed that a i52500k @ 4ghz doubled the fps of a 5870 in bc2 compared to his old Q9 series chip @4ghz. That guy was also bashed to hell and I would prefer not to be treated that way. Im just asking how this could possibly be happening? Did I underestimate my 260gtx and my Q6600 all this time was holding it back?

While in the presence of the immense power of sandy bridge your gpu feels inadequate,
So now you gpu is in "Try Hard Mode" in order to feel better about it self.

i experienced the same type of increase in fps in WoW

i was rockin a stock q6600 for a while even with my mediocre hd5670 i was getting like 30-40fps in the middle of Stormwind(major alliance city, big pop server with lots of people)

but with my 2500k...in the same area at the same time with about the same number of things going on im seeing a minimum of 80 fps and a max of about 105 fps

so i would have to say that the 2500k i JUST that good...actually im my situation i would probably say my mainboard and ram were major bottlenecks even with my 5670

BC2 is pretty CPU intensive. That's why it's as reliable as prime blend in determining whether an overclock is stable or not. Plus the video card is taking some +12v, so it's just an all around great system test to see if you're stable or not.
