Android - Custom ROM guide - Page 2

I've rooted the HTC Legend and HTC Desire HD and both times I've had to make a Gold Card while downgrading my device. You'll need to make one if the device is carrier-branded. (Telus HTC Desire HD or Bell HTC Legend, etc.)

http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how...te-a-goldcard/
http://android.modaco.com/content/ge...ng-a-goldcard/

When entering "adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid", I had to change "mmc_1" to "mmc_0" for the HTC Legend and "mmc_1" to "mmc_2" for the HTC Desire HD.

Not sticky material yet, and as this isn't a one-size fits all guide(superoneclick can brick phones) I think it won't ever be in this format. tbh the best way is to link guides for each phone from XDA, then it may be sticky material.... the problem with this is that there is too many phones for this guide to cover, linking one for each individual phone would be easier

Word of advice, read this and use it, not the OP's guide, it isn't universal

The giant Guide To Rooting all phones link is a link to a constantly updated page with rooting instructions for all phones, the super one click is below that.

Here is the list of supported devices by superoneclick:
Quote:
Compatibility list
Acer Liquid Metal
Dell Streak
HTC Magic (Sapphire) 32B
HTC Bee
LG Ally
Motorola Atrix4G
Motorola Charm
Motorola Cliq
Motorola Droid
Motorola Flipside
Motorola Flipout
Motorola Milestone
Nexus One
Samsung Captivate
Samsung Galaxy 551 (GT-I5510)
Samsung Galaxy Portal/Spica I5700
Samsung Galaxy S 4G
Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Samsung Galaxy S SCH-I500
Samsung Galaxy Tab
Samsung Transform M920
Samsung Vibrant
Sony Ericsson Xperia E51i X8
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
Sprint Hero
Telus Fascinate
Toshiba Folio 100
He should be using unrevoked, which also unlocks the bootloader(and with some S-OFF as well). It supports these phones and it should be the only one to use if you have a phone that supports it imo.
Quote:
Sprint EVO 4G (HTC Supersonic)
Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible)
HTC Desire GSM
HTC Desire CDMA (HTC BravoC)
HTC Aria
Droid Eris (HTC DesireC)
HTC Wildfire (HTC Buzz)
This is why I think you need a links to guides for each phone individually, these two tools still only work with a minority of phones and in most cases you need to unlock the bootloader on top of this, which as far as I know superoneclick can't do.

The first link is not the superoneclick, that is simply the first option it gives you along with a compatibility which says for EVO continue down the page where it then specifies the unrevoke method.
