I messed with RAM a bit in the past. Ram frequency has considerable influence on system performance, but timing(including command rate) has very little influence. IMO it's not worth it to mess with RAM timing because it's extremely hard to verify a timing setting is stable, very time consuming for less than 1% difference.

I have 4 sticks, 2 in a group and they have slightly different timing and voltage..... just too much work....
