For now i have an old MX518, so it's optical, but i do plan to change it someday.
I'm using a hardpad (plastic based) right now and i'm fine with it, it's just too small.
How are the cloth pads with dust and dog hair? I have loooots of both, plus a fan working at summer that spreads them well . With non-cloth pads its easy, I just wipe it of with a towel(or hand), what about the QcK? (which is cloth)

Just take it out once a week, hold it with 1 hand and then spank it

It's better to use some sticky tape for that actually, less expensive
