Mother: Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
RAM: 2x2gb ddr3 1333 gskill ripjaws-x 7-7-7-21

Welcome to OCN!

Well, first off: what do you plan on using these CPUs for? Then I could tell you if the Phenom II X6 is worth it over the X4. As for OCing, they're pretty much the same.

For gaming the Phenom II X4 is the best bang-for-buck out of the two because there's no games that take advantage of six cores. I'd suggest you get the Phenom II X4 955 from , since it's only $120 there inc. shipping. Most of them get to 4GHz, but some get to 4.2GHz. It depends on which one you get (the batch). For the most performance, you should also aim for a CPU-NB over-clock of 2.6 or 2.8GHz (you'll also have to raise CPU-NB voltage for that).

But if a game takes the 4 cores of the 955, wouldn´t it take 4 cores of the 1090?

My Phenom II 955 wouldn't do more than 3.6 GHz without a ton a voltage added and wasn't stable at all past 3.8 GHz. I bought my Phenom II 1090T and it easily hit 4 GHz.

Why not wait to see what the new AMD processors do?

Yeah, but what do you mean? They're gonna be the same speed in games. The 1090T won't have any advantage.

It probably wasn't able to because it was a C2 revision. The new C3s, especially the newer batches, hit 4GHz in a breeze. Some are getting to 4.2GHz as well.

But yes, I definitely agree on that it's worth it to wait for Bulldozer. OP, if you can, wait until AMD announces their new processors 3 weeks from now and then you can buy a new platform that will be faster for a similar price.
