I have 2 stuff im thinking about that maybe has something to do with the preformence.

1. The format size of the SSD (using windows deafult)
2. my WD 1TB is connected to SATA0 and the SSD to SATA1.

I dont know those affects preformence but maybe.

I forget what I used. I think I formatted it with 32 instead of windows default. You could also move your wd hd to one of the 3gb/s ports and see what happens. It won't really benefit from the sata3 port anyway.

Those numbers are looking much better, I am sorry if I was confusing smile.gif

Can you run the ATTO benchmark one more time and change the "Total Length" back to default 256MB just for comparisons sake?

My primary drive is set to 4k and my data drives are set to 32k. The larger the allocation size the faster the drive will be in general. But...you will have less space over all because files smaller than your allocation size will still have to occupy one space. (ie. you chose 512k and write a 1000k file it will use two spaces. You write a file that is 20b you still use 512k of space because that is your allocation size.) I chose 32k because it was kinda of a happy medium for me between space and speed. More space = smaller allocation size, More Speed = Larger allocation size. You could try 32 if you only have one hard drive but I don't think it will give you the boost in speed that you are looking for.

Plug your "SATA 6GB" cable into the second from the top SATA port. Go into bios and set to AHCI mode. Use the SATA drivers on the Gigabyte site, they aremore up to date than Intel's.You can get them here

Hey man, I was just looking over that image about the hd properties. It says that your allocation unit size is 512b. Try reformatting the drive to 4096b or 4kb and see what you get. At 512b it will be slow, your sector size is actually .5k.

Do me a favor and go into your comand prompt and type chkdsk c: and at the end of the report it will say the number of bytes in each allocation unit. If it only says 512 then reformat it with 4096. Make sure you right click and chose run as admin, or it will not allow you to run the check.
