Thanks, Sir Overkill.
Synthetic. What's the comparison with real world?

Because Computers are still rapidly changing, its best to get the most current/cheapest one -meaning get the 2600k -save money, then in about 1-1.5 years buy the Ivy Bridge -with the more cores, remember in about 1.5 years time you will have seen the 28nm GPU's come out as well, so a bigger upgrade is needed further down the road.

If you want to fold, then I'd get the 970, for any other purpose I'd get the 2600K.

970 is about 15,000 PPD above the 2600K, those both being overclocked. (970 @ about 4.2GHz, 2600K about 5GHz.)

Your choice. Not sure the 970 would be the best choice now if you want to fold, I'd wait for the newer sockets with more cores.

970 is old hat now.... and slower in 99.9% of cases against the cheaper 2600k

Get the 2600k and crank it upto 5ghz

Dude in my post before your I show my 990X in vantage vs a 2600k Here:
Attachment 210814
Attachment 210813
Attachment 210815
If anything I thought Vantage was a place the 990X did shine.
