I came from a lesser cpu, an i7 940, but one thing I really love is the lower power consumption. This pc uses so much less juice than the 940 and 4870x2 did.

2600k is lower power but little slower. also less cores. Gaming 2600k, folding or editing x58 still better.
2600k is faster in almost every category of becnhamar, and it's cheaper,it is a much better option than the i7 970.

I read it can have issues with Raid0 and other stuff. It's apparently not quite what it is on the P67 chipset.

There are real reasons to want 6 cores over the improved Sandy architecture but if you are unsure what you need then the chances are almost 100% that you don't need 6 cores.

If these numbers are true I just don't think the pro's out weigh the cons. For me at least.

I mean you're paying double for a chip that's going to majorly suck down the electricity. That 970 OC'ed will probably be sucking down almost what my entire rig uses.

Granted, those are things I think about which others could care less about.

Yeah this makes sense. You would rather have the more expensive cpu regardless if the cheaper one is better.

The sata 6 on x58 is not as fast as the sata6 on p67,it's throttled and obvious as heck when running a vertex 3.
