Ubuntu 10+ install issues

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I recently built a new machine (see below) and I'm having some trouble getting Ubuntu 10.10 / 11.04 installed.

Here is what's happening: I'm booting from a CD (verified to be correct) and it seems after booting the initrd, it can't find the live filesystem:

"Unable to find a medium containing a live filesystem"

It then stops at a Busybox ash shell.

There are some search results on Google about this, but all seem to revolve around booting from USB, which isn't an option for me.

I have the MSI P67a-GD65 and a WD Black Caviar 1TB drive in SATA port 1. All controllers in the BIOS are set to IDE mode (other available modes are AHCI/RAID).

First time I've seen this message... any ideas?

There should be a function to 'verify installation media'.

If you can't even boot that far I'd re-acquire the image and try to burn again.

Everything verifies correctly, and I can use the same CD to properly boot a Virtualbox VM.

Some people (on google) have passed by this problem by selecting after F6 'nolapic'. Not sure if it might help you, I suggest to search a bit on google.
